Janet Carding, Director & CEO of the ROM

I am very pleased today to announce the launch of the Royal Ontario Museum’s new website. The new www.rom.on.ca provides an essential online destination for trusted information about our world.

You’ll have direct access to ROM research, collections and curatorial expertise as never before. With a dynamic new content management system, you can now make your Museum experience even richer by participating in discussions, online interactions and content curation in real time.

ROM employees will contribute material directly to the website, providing a wealth of information. New ROM staff pages will take you behind the scenes at the Museum to meet the many subject matter experts that make the ROM a world leader in matters relating to world culture and natural history. The new site also simplifies integration with our social media platforms such as Twitter, Facebook and YouTube as well as our Blogs. You’ll hear more of the fascinating stories behind the objects and artifacts in our vast collections.

You’ll also see and hear much more of the fascinating goings on both within the Museum itself to updates from fieldwork around the globe. With research and conservation activities around the world, ROM curators originate new information towards a global understanding of historical and modern change in culture and environment.

Our overarching strategic goals as a Museum are exemplified through the new www.rom.on.ca - to inspire wonder and promote learning by sharing the stories of our unique collections, to be a champion for the natural and cultural worlds, to serve as a forum for our diverse communities, and to create knowledge that contributes to a better future.

We hope www.rom.on.ca becomes your go-to resource for fascinating and reliable information about our changing natural and cultural worlds.  I welcome you to visit and explore the new virtual ROM, and I look forward to your feedback!
