Indigenous Fashion Arts

Cast away winter blues by indulging in some retail therapy

A pop-up boutique by Indigenous Fashion Arts is showcasing clothing, home accents, and accessories by artists at the crossroads of art, fashion, and culture.

IFA is a non-profit organization under Indigenous leadership that showcases forward-thinking, unique, and remarkable craftsmanship. Visitors are invited to embrace and celebrate the rich tapestry of Indigenous artistry. Whether shopping for a handbag, pillowcase, earrings, or a bomber jacket, each purchase made here supports local artists and features handcrafted, one-of-a-kind creations. The designers include Assinewe Jewelry, Beadz by Dre, Blu Hummingbird, Born in the North, Indigo Arrows, Lesley Hampton, MDW Jewelry, M.O.B.I.L.I.Z.E, and Niio Perkins Designs. The collections are accompanied by artist cards which offer deeper insights into each artist’s individual stories and creations.

Left to Right: NIIO PERKINS DESIGNS (Akwesasne), MDW JEWELRY, (Sucker Creek First Nation), ASSINEWE JEWELRY (Anishinaabe).

Along with a marketplace and a trade program, IFA is dedicated to showing works of Indigenous artists and designers through runways, curated exhibitions, artist talks, panels, lectures, and hands-on workshops, for all audiences.

The pop-up runs until February 19. On January 26, the shop will remain open until 10 p.m. IFA will also be presenting as part of RAD: Fashion 4 Life in connection with Noelle Hamlyn: Lifers and sustainable fashion.
